The first Lui Cha

For a long time I always look at other people enjoy this certain Hakka dish. I seen people pouring the soup into the rice, I've seen people slurping the soup during the meal so I finally tried it.

The Lui Cha.

It's a Hakka dish served with various vegetables with a minty soup. I usually have no problem with vegetables and the nuts looked promising. So I mixed my vegetables around with my rice and consumed it. I am not sure which vegetable it was but I couldn't stand the taste. The soup was too minty for my taste and I didn't like it.

I love the mixed rice with the vegetable and crunchy peanuts but just that one taste, I couldn't take it. I think I will try again but I will have to eat it with someone who like the whole lui cha.

Meeples : Trying more games

It's been a while since we came around to Meeples for another round of testing and trying new games. Here are the games we played today :

Igloo pop

It's a total luck game where each player quickly grab an igloo, shake it, guess how many little balls in there and place the igloo on the number card. It's a fast pace game but we got bored of it after three rounds. Not worth for purchase though.

Bohnanza

A bean planting game where players take turn to earn as much coins as possible by planting, harvesting and trading their beans with others. The number on the bean card indicate how many are available in the deck. Definitely worth the purchase.

Camel up

Players race their camels around the desert and placed bets on which camel will win the race. Not quite sure about this game as we weren't feeling it.

River dragons

Everyone raced across their planks to get over to the other side of their color. This game requires luck and strategy as other players might throw your plan off the river. I love the props of the game - colorful and attractive. It seems to be worth the purchase.

Pack and Stack

Definitely a strategy game where you race against time to stack your items exactly into the truck. This was a frustrating game for us because we were losing more points that gaining and after a few rounds, we gave up.

Tsuro

The ultimate finisher when we have another 5 - 10 minutes to kill. Fast and easy where your dragon lies on others decision as well. Nice but not worth the purchase.

King Me

We each got a card with the names of the characters in various orders. Everyone gets a turn to move the characters forward. The game was a little repetitive and dry. I would replay this but could not see this as a long term play.

Another game that we played was a Korean game (not pictured here). It involved a cup with several dices each player, fairly noisy but we gave up quickly as the game was confusing.

The bill was on cousin Kush this round. Wooo...

Detox : Facebook

Recently I deactivated my facebook account because I kept seeing the dog eating festival in China news.  It's always on my newsfeed - as the date grew closer and closer. I decided to deactivate my facebook for 3 days. After 3 days, I extended my off facebook vacation to a month.

Here's what happened within a month :

1. I was scrolling insta a little bit more than usual.

2. I got involved and addicted to reading youtube vlogger scandals.

3. I turned to other news resources to connect with the world - CNN, BBC, Thestar ..

4. I was left out when people around me were talking about some viral video, photo or article and when I asked them "what happened?" then their response was - "you didn't see meh?".

I have since reactivated my facebook. At one point in my life I thought I cannot live without it - I was addicted but this short experiment showed me that I can break free from facebook. Perhaps one day I shall try deactivating youtube for a month.

Komugi Cafe

Komugi Cafe - two bottles of fresh juice. They didn't add in any sugar so it tasted very raw and full of pulp. The wafer ice cream was just okay - nothing special. It could be my taste buds were altered from the juice.

Chicken chop @ Yut Kee

The famous chicken chop of Yut Kee. I rushed over the shop during lunch with Xiao Mei. There was a queue and XM went to the counter to inform the man her name and how many of us were there. Some plastic chairs were there for you to wait.

We waited for less than 10 minutes before we were called. Sharing table with other people is unavoidable during lunch hour. Lunch order was also taken very quickly so best to know what you want to have before sitting down.

I ordered the signature chicken chop and it came pretty fast. I don't have high expectation on food but I didn't like the potato and the frozen veggies. The main star was pretty nice though.

I won't mind going back there to try other dishes but maybe not during weekday working hours.

Journey to Splits

When it comes to flexibility, I am as stiff as an oak tree. Therefore I took up blogilates July challenge - stretching daily to increase my chances of doing the splits.

Here's how it works.

- Stretch 1 to 5 daily. Hold each stretch for 1 minute. Both sides.
- Add another stretch from day 6. Therefore for day 8 - you will have to do stretch 1-5 then stretch 8.

I'm going to try this and hopefully by the end of the month, I will be able to execute the split.

Let's go on this journey with me.
